In January CJR hosts a discussion on the State Of African American Same Gender Loving community. Our discussion focuses on navigating the intersectionality of racism, homophobia and transphobia.
FEBRUARY
Every February 7th we hold an event Recognizing Black HIV/AIDS AWARENESS DAY. Our event focuses on HIV education, testing, community, involvement and treatment. Know your status. Come join us in 2021! We look forward to seeing you there!
Community Assembly
The Community Assembly is a coalition of professionals from both the public and private sectors coming together to share information focused on building bridges to empowerment for LGBTQ community members and allies. Community Assemblies are held several times a year.

National Transgender HIV Testing Day
National Transgender HIV Testing Day is observed on April 18. We look forward to testing you.
MAY
Happy Pride!
We celebrate Gay Pride every June. We host an event by the lakefront with a Dj, entertainment, food and fun! We distribute PrEp information and condoms.
JUNE
June 27th is National HIV Testing Day. We host an event each year where we provide free HIV test, results consultation, condoms, speakers, food and drink. Know Your Status. Get Tested. Knowing Is Sexy. Do You Know Yours? See you next year!
JULY
Happy Black Gay Pride!
We celebrate Black Gay Pride during the first week of July in Chicago. We host events and get it in! We hope to see you in 2021!
Salute to Community Warriors
Our Salute To Community Warriors recognizes LGBTQ+ family and allies. We salute their hard work and dedication to eradicating stigmas, fighting systemic racism while helping to create a better quality of life for Black LGBTQ+.
OCTOBER
OCTOBER 11 IS NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY
We hold an annual event celebrating national coming out day which highlights acceptance and diversity. It is a celebration of life!
NOVEMBER
Transgender Day of Remembrance
On November 20th we memorialize those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia.
DECEMBER
World AIDS Day
World AIDS day is the first day of December. We recognize the day with memories of those who were loss and by providing free HIV testing, results consultation, PrEP information and free condoms.
