People become motivated to work on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and non binary identity issues for a variety of reasons often personal and political. Activism is often centered around inclusion, non-discrimination, equality, deconstructing economic barriers and a sense of community.
The need is great. The CJR Empowerment Center is often the only safe space for some members of the Black LGBTQ+ community.
Working for a meaningful purpose that helps liberate and sparks passion is work worth advocating for.
Due to COVID-19 our volunteer and intern work currently consists of virtual engagement. There is so much work to do. You must be comfortable with the Black LGBTQ+. We are looking forward to hearing from you or 773-340-1545.
