James Baldwin was one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. He boldly explored racial and social issues mainly focusing on the Black experience in America. He did not bite his tongue when discussing the atrocities within the Black community due to systemic racism. On August 2, 2004, Baldwin achievements were recognized posthumously by the U.S. Post Office Black Heritage stamp series,on what would have been his 80th birthday.
